COMPANY STORY

dmp3 Music, founded by Dan McMinn, has music and technology in it’s DNA. Dan’s background includes an Economics degree from UC Berkeley, a Masters degree in Industrial Design, as well as gigs as a DJ in San Francisco clubs and journalist for SPIN magazine. As a true music lover and audiophile, Dan got the the idea for the fledgling company in 2003 when talking to a friend. It was obvious that the physical medium of music was going away, so how could he help customers easily make the transition to digital music and put it all at their fingertips? As he was getting the company off the ground, several technology media outlets, including WIRED and Tech TV, got wind of the idea and decided to publish stories featuring the company. And from there dmp3 Music was born.

“I had 200 CDs that I had planned to digitize for over a decade. I finally realized that I would never have the time nor the patience to do it myself, so I sent them to dmp3 Music and had them converted into both a lossless format (FLAC) and MP3s. I’m so glad I did. Now I have thousands of songs on one easy-to-access drive! High quality product, well organized.”files, and great communication from the company. I would recommend this service to all music lovers!”
